This is me on August 5th, writing with puffy eyes and that hollow feeling that follows a breakup. If you’re reading this later, I need you to remember one thing: you didn’t “lose” yourself. You’re just getting your time back.
Right now I’m tempted to romanticize the good moments and ignore the parts where I felt small. Don’t do that. The late-night talks were real, yes, but so were the days you felt anxious waiting for a reply. So were the moments you edited your needs so you wouldn’t be “too much.”
If you’ve already healed a little, I’m proud of you. If you haven’t, that’s okay too. Healing isn’t linear; it’s more like cleaning out a drawer—some days you make a mess before it looks better.
Please keep your boundaries. Not as punishment, but as kindness to your future self. Choose people who choose you back without negotiation.
And if you’re lonely tonight, go somewhere with light: a café, a bookstore, a walk with music. You don’t need to be “over it” to keep living.
