FutureMe is the name most people know. It is simple, has apps for iOS and Android, a large community of anonymous public letters with comments, and a Pro option aimed at schools. Writing a basic letter is free, but you need an account, and images, videos and files come with the Premium plan.
Choose it if you want a dedicated app and the largest community of public letters.
EmailToFuture has a clear free plan (up to 10 years ahead, 5,000 characters, two recipients) and premium "capsules" you buy one by one or in bundles, from $0.80 each. Premium adds file attachments, more recipients, a custom delivery time and much longer letters. It can also import your letters from FutureMe.
Choose it if you are moving many letters from FutureMe or need attachments other than photos.
LetterToTheFuture keeps everything that matters free: the letter, a photo, delivery up to 50 years ahead and letters to other people, with no account. Letters are encrypted, public letters are reviewed by a person before they appear, and you can talk to an AI version of your future self. It is younger than the other two and does not have a native app yet: it works in any phone browser.
Choose it if you want to include a photo for free, write without signing up, or send a letter decades ahead.

Pick a date, write a few honest lines, add a photo if you like. We keep it encrypted and deliver it on the day you chose.
