Write to us

Any question, problem or request about your letters or your account:

hello@lettertothefuture.org

We reply within 48 hours. Reports of inappropriate content are reviewed within 24 hours. You can also use the contact form.

Your letters

When will my letter arrive?

On the day you chose when you wrote it, at the email address you entered. The date must be at least one month and at most 50 years away. The letter is sent by email: you do not need to have the app installed on that day, or even still have an account.

Do I need an account to write?

No. Writing and scheduling a letter only requires your email. An account is optional and lets you see in one place all the letters you have scheduled and the ones that have already been delivered.

Why am I asked to write more text?

A letter needs at least 144 characters of real content. This minimum is there so that, years from now, you find something worth reading, and it also stops automated junk.

Can I change the delivery address?

Yes. If you have changed your email and want your letter to reach the new address, write to us at hello@lettertothefuture.org with the old and the new address, and we will update it.

Can I cancel a scheduled letter?

Yes. Write to us from the same address you used to schedule it and we will cancel it. If you are also going to delete your account, the app lets you cancel all your pending letters in one go.

Privacy of what you write

Can anyone read my letter?

No. The subject and text of every letter are stored encrypted on our servers, in the European Union. A letter only becomes public if you tick the box to publish it, and in that case it is published anonymously: without your name and without your email address.

How do I delete my account and my data?

From the app itself: go to your profile and tap Delete account. Your account, profile and history are permanently deleted, and you can choose whether to also cancel the letters that have not been delivered yet or let them arrive on their date. This cannot be undone. If you prefer us to do it, write to us at hello@lettertothefuture.org.

What else can I request about my data?

Access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection, as set out in the GDPR. Write to us and we will process it. The details are in the privacy policy.

Published content and moderation

I have seen an offensive letter

Report it. Open the letter on the website and, below the text, click Report this letter: choose whether it is offensive, spam or something else and, if you like, tell us more. The letter stops being shown immediately and a person reviews it within 24 hours to correct it or remove it. Every public letter is reviewed before it is published, and we remove anything that breaks our content rules. Public letters are only on the website; the app does not show them.

I want to remove a letter of mine that was published

Log in with the same email you wrote it with and, in My letters, click Remove from the website: it stops showing on the website immediately. If the letter has not been sent yet, you will see Do not publish it next to it. If you do not have an account, write to us from that address with the title or the link and we will remove it.

The app

I cannot log in to my account

Use Forgot your password? on the log-in screen: you will get a link by email to set a new one. If the email does not show up, check your spam folder before requesting it again.

The app says it cannot connect

It is usually your phone's connection: try switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data. If the problem continues, write to us saying which screen fails and what message you see.

I wrote a letter and do not know if it was sent

When you schedule it you get a confirmation email with the delivery date. If you have an account, the letter also appears in My letters. If you see neither, write to us before writing it again so it is not duplicated.
