Frequently asked questions

How many prompts should I answer?

Three to five is plenty. Choose one about your life today, one about the future and one question for your future self. A letter that answers a few prompts deeply is better than one that answers twenty superficially.

What are good questions to ask your future self?

Questions you genuinely do not know the answer to: whether you are happy, what surprised you, which worries turned out to be unnecessary, and whether you kept a specific promise.

Can I use these prompts in a classroom?

Yes. Teachers often use them for end-of-year or New Year activities. We also have a free printable worksheet on our page for teachers.

Do I need an account to write the letter?

No. Write your letter, choose a date up to 50 years ahead, add a photo if you want and enter your email. It is free.

Write it today. Read it when it matters.

Pick a date, write a few honest lines, add a photo if you like. We keep it encrypted and deliver it on the day you chose.
